Sick and tired of picking up after your kids? Three tips anyone can use to get organized.

"MOM!!!! Marie Kando Broke Into Our House!!!

No, Marie Kando did not break into our house; it was just me putting a divider in my son's drawer while he was at school.

I was sick and tired of hearing, "Mom, where's this? "Mom, where's that"? Or my favorite, "Mom, where did you put my ...?" It felt like a significant accomplishment just to get out the door on time and not feel overwhelmed.

So I thought who better than Marie Kando to teach him what to do and hoarders of what not to do.

Use Dividers In Drawers So You Can See Your Stuff Instead of Fearing That Stuff Will Fall On Your Feet

  • Socks, underwear, shirts, and shorts were in one drawer, all thrown into one ball.

  • No wonder the kid couldn't find anything, let alone two socks that actually matched. So I did what Marie said and placed dividers in drawers to keep like with like. The dividers are still in the drawers, and almost everything is in the right column.

  • When my son found a divider mysteriously in his drawer, he thought Marie had done it.

Watch Hoarders To Scare The Bejesus Out of Your Kids So They Donate Or Throw Things Out

You'll never look at clutter again.

We watched Sheri from West Virginia, who had 8-foot mounds of clutter in each room. She had a tough time throwing things out, including items full of mold. Even her car was full of chaos.

My son now says, "Sheri would be proud" if he wants to keep clutter.

Look at Systems As Tools, But You Get To Make The Rules

But if Marie were to break into your house, what clues would she leave that would show you've been organizing and you can find things quickly?

What stuff matters to you that makes you feel good?
